Craig was born and raised outside of Detroit, Michigan, and inherited his artistic talent from his mother, a professional artist who taught him how to create papier-mache sculptures, large fabric weavings and cityscape drawings.
Periodically, during the 1990’s, Craig experimented with oil and acrylic paint on canvas. He began pursuing art seriously when he and his wife bought their first home a decade ago and Craig decided to make original artwork for its walls. He also honed his craft by enrolling in drawing, painting and color theory art courses and by taking painting lessons from a teacher trained in the methods of Italian Renaissance painting.
Craig’s colorful and textural art ranges from realism to abstraction and reflects his unique expressive style. He employs paint, plaster, metal and other media to convey his artistic vision. He draws upon significant events, life experiences, people and nature for inspiration.
Craig has been commissioned by residential and commercial clients across the United States. His work also has been featured in exhibits in and around the Washington, D.C., area, where he lives with his wife and two daughters.
